Oiling the Machine

Spitsbergen, Norway – Expedition Training

It’s time to establish an efficient routine for the Greenland ICE Expedition team. With only a few weeks to go before the start, Dixie & Eric are spending a few days together in Spitsbergen on one final training trip.  They have spent their time fine-tuning the intricate nuances necessary to collaborate on their impending Greenland adventure.  Not only is this already solid duo working out any kinks, but the back office team is also busy oiling their machine, one that feels like a locomotive in need of a slight maintenance overhaul before it can once again spin effortlessly along the tracks.

Stefan Maes & I are coordinating the many communicative, administrative and logistical details behind this new expedition.  Stefan has accompanied Dixie and Eric to Spitsbergen, and I have remained behind in our Belgian office in order to finalize the myriad tasks on a long checklist.  Stefan and I cooperated on the Antarctic ICE Expedition two years ago, a job that was full of immense satisfaction.  Today, even with this last stretch of urgency, I am remembering why I love my job.

It is quite simply a dream to work with highly motivated and positive people, individuals who blend together to make the seemingly impossible … well … possible.

We look forward to sharing our new adventure with you.
